For sale Ornate Gilt hilt U.S. Naval Officer`s Sword, C.1835, Peterson`s 133, this one gilt hilt not silvered ( as it should be ), Used Mexican War thru Civil War & I`m sure by some Confederate Naval Officers that left the Union.Tight hilt, helmet pommel, lionhead quillion, large guard has raised spread wing eagle over anchor, 15 stars, 15 stars also on both grip side panels, 2 piece checked bone ? grips, perfect. 1/4 \" thick, 1-1/16 \" wide, 30-7/8 \" long, half fullered & 1/2 double edged rapier type blade that is engraved both sides for 7 \" cannon, floral,pikes & maker`s name, C.V. Keller under lg.guard. Though grip is tight, knuckle bow appears to have a very old repair in center, see pics. Plain brass scabbard has several minor dings & dents, ornate frog stud.
