This set was made by the LR (Louis Roussy)company in France and offered for sale 1948 - 1953. The set is marked by the factory as being #1020 (see photo) but I can find no reference to this number in Clive Lamming\'s, Encyclopedie du Train-Jouet Francais . The set also contains a 0-4-2 electric tender locomotive that also does not appear this reference. The cars (tank car #2116,gondola #2104, and the box car #2107) are in the reference and are listed as being produced 1948 – 1953. From this I conclude that is likely the time period this set was offered, but I offer no guarantees. The trailing truck on the loco and wheels on the cars all have cast-in spokes, which also suggests they were of the same time period.

The loco contains an AC motor that was tested and which runs. As can been seen from the photos the loco has minimal wear and the decals are mostly intact. The puffers on the loco and the cars are complete. The cars have some flaws, the most significant of which is the absence of the vertical pins on the couplers on the loco, the box car, and the gondola. The tank car has the correct but very simple pin type couplers intact. The tank car has some wear and the decal on one side is not complete. The gondola is mostly free from defects other than the aforementioned coupler pin. The box car has some rust and paint missing from parts of the roof. The track consists of 12 curved and 6 straight sections and they make a complete loop. The track itself is brass with wooden ties. The set box is in only fair condition with some edge pieces missing from the cover; however the cover graphics are in good condition.
