The haft is a bit small in diameter for the head. Most of these trade axes came without hafts & were even made locally.Look closely at the photo of the bottom weld.
Depending on the skill & urgency of applying a haft, they were fitted with leather, nothing, nails & wood for head \"tighteners\"
