General Electric J85-GE-7 Gas Turbine Engine in Original Container:
$5000.00

This SALE is for a General Electric J85-GE-7 Gas Turbine Military Engine; S/N GE-E235327. It was accepted 5/24/1961.It was running when placed in storage 39 years ago;
its\' container is included in this sale (last picture). No Logs for this engine BUT we have some original paperwork when the engine was 1st delivered to us in 1961. Engine repaired in Jan 1978 after used on a GAM-72B Quail Decoy drone after use on a B-52.Most tagged parts of this engine were built 1960-1961; see photos.
Both Hot and Cold sections turn easily and without noise. This variantof the J85 produces 2,450 lbs of Thrust. There is no after-burner for this variant.Outside Container Dimensions are 40\" wide x 64\" long x 43\" high;
Original Loaded weight is 960 lbs.
We make no warrantythat this engine could ever run again, however, using the civilian versions\' CJ-610 Fuel controls, Air start systems and completion parts it might be fun to try.
As this was a military engine, the original electronic interface has been removed. We used AIR-START to start these engines but you can get the Civilian system (GE-CJ610) for electric start.This engine was discovered mixed in with our helicopter engines. Back in 1965 we used these J85-7\'s mostly in Reconnaissance Fixed-wing BQM-34 Drones that were developed to fly in Vietnam for Target Spotting. Those flights ended for us in the 1970\'s as our drones were then killed as Targets and we ended up with more engines than drones. This engine then went to GAM-72 Program.The GAM-72 used the McDonnell Aircraft Corporation ADM-20 Quail Platform. Dropped from a B-52 Bomber, the QUAIL was an air-launched decoy cruise missile designed to confuse enemy tracking radars. The J85-GE-7 engine could make the small Quail fly at Mach 0.75 to Mach 0.9 at 35,000 to 50,000 ft with ranges from 357 nm to 445 nm.
After the Quail program, this engine came back to us and placed in storage.
Time for this engine to go to a new home.
