Sorry, no gold in these coins. In fact, the German Third Reich didn\'t issued any gold coins. With the onset of World War II, Germany began to mint coins in zinc so the copper could go towards the war effort. In 1940, the bronze Reichspfennig and Two Reichspfennig was minted less and eliminated by the end of that year. Also in 1940, the 1, 5 and 10 Reichspfennig coins were given a new obverse and minted in zinc until 1948. 1, 5 and 10 Reichspfennig coins issued after VE Day (Victory in Europe, May 8, 1945) were minted with the wreath and swastika removed. These coins are called Allied Occupation coins (relatively rare). Coin SizeGerman 2 Reichspfennig Coin - 20.2 mm. Fits Neatly in a 21.2 mm.
