RARE 1869 GORHAM STERLING SILVER SAUCE BOAT IN THE EGYPTIAN MANNER; EXCELLENT CONDITION; 11 OUNCES
This is a beautifully crafted 1869 Gorham sterling silver Egyptian inspired sauce boat.
In excellent condition.
In classic slender oval or boat form.
Thin panel decorated mid-section with in-cut shoulder.
Unique stepped oval medallion cap U shape handle. Twin pomegranate set in layered floral frame. With rolling vine, three palmette drop.
Elegant interwoven vine and bead decoration to stem.
This fine 1869 Gorham Egyptian sterling silver sauce boat is 7 1/4 inches handle to spout and 4 1/2 inches tall. Thick, heavy guage sterling construction it weighs 11 (standard) ounces.
Hallmarked as shown. Gorham trademarks date letter B for 1869 and a star. We do not know significance of the star.
In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous sterling patina throughout. The brilliant woven bead decoration and floral and pomegranate handle retain their original crisp, vibrant detail. Stands firm on table or display shelf.
