Bronze medal with crown suspension and original wire suspension bar; the face with a Leopold cross with crossed swords between the arms and with a crown at its centre, the upper arm bearing the cipher of King George I, the lower arm that of King Constantine I, circumscribed ‘With God, for King and Country’; the reverse inscribed ‘ΜΑΚΕΔΟΝΙΑ / ΗΠΕΙΡΟC / ΑΡΧΙΠΕΛΑΓΟC‘ (Macedonia Epirus Archipelago) encircled by a laurel wreath; signed ‘G. Iakovidis’ on the reverse.
The medal was instituted on 17 February 1914 and awarded for participation in the First Balkan War of 1912-1913.
The two clasps are very rare.The \" ΕΛΛΗΣΠΟΝΤΟΣ\"(Hellispond or Dardanelles ) and the \"ΑΙΓΑΙΟΝ-ΙΟΝΙΟΝ\" (Aegean-Ionian Sea) were awarded warparticipation in operations and battles that took place in these two wartheaters .
It comes with two original ribbon bars , one forsummer and one for winter dress, the ribbon with red is for this medal and the ribbon with green is for the following war of Greece and Bulgaria.
