A former patriachal basilica, later a mosque, and now a museum in Istanbul,Turkey.
Famous in particular for it's massive dome (102 ft 6 inch) It is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. It was the largest cathedral ever built in the world for nearly a thousand years with an interior height of 182ft.
The current building was originally constructed as a church between A.D.532 and 537 on the orders of the Byzantine Emporer Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site.
We have created a stone replica based on architectural drawings of the original building. It is reproduced here, as it was centuries ago,a Christian church.
The model is 4.5" X 4.5" x 4" high and weighs approximately 2 lbs. It is being hand produced in limited quantities. Comes complete with a cherry finish wood base.
