Hamilton Model 21 Marine Chronometer Naval Deck Clock 1941 -Rare very low serial:
$2390.00

Hello,
Up for sale an excellent marine chronometer from my personal collection - a rare find!
This is a stunning rare antique HAMILTON Model 21, 48 hour power reserve, marine ships chronometer in its original solid wooden case. Serial number is (N)933, one of the first ones, made in 1941 by Hamilton Lancaster P.A. USA. The company was commissioned by the US Navy, and later onawardedfor the exceptional service this clock model provided during WWII. As far as I know less than 11.000 marine chronometers were made by Hamilton. (Later serials have the letter E, which stands for Excellence. For a piece of history google among others \"How Hamilton Watch Co won world war II\").
This clock features a chronometer movement which is of the highest quality, with it all being original, in perfect condition and working order. It has a sticker saying that the next overhaul was due in the early 1980\'s (long overdue!!!).The movement keeps excellent accurate time (not professionally tested though). Personally I wind it up only a couple times in a year. Should it be used daily, I would suggest a service / oiling every 3-5 years - not mandatory, but it will make sure that this clock survives another century...
It comes with a winding key that winds the clock mechanism (not Hamilton). It also hasa locking mechanism for the balance -for transportation (paper wedges will also be used for shipping).
The dial, glass and box are also all original. The box is in overall good condition but the top lid is a bit weatheredas it has seen action, but in my opinion this adds to its own style and historical value.Personally, I leave clock boxes \"as is\", however this is a matter of taste...The box measures (shut) approximately 7.8\" high x 7.8\" wide x 7.8\" deep (or 190 X 190 X190 mm).The chronometer dial measuresapproximately3.75\" in diameter (95mm).
Just a few instructions: All manual wind marine chronometers have locking and free rotation mechanisms for the protection of the clock itself. In order to make it work you have to wind its key from the bottom and gently tilt the movement laterally. To set it in time you have to unscrew the clock glass! Tadaa!
This is a MUST addition to any collection!!! I was lucky enough to find it \"sleeping\" in an old shop (btw, sorry for the mopping bucket in one of the pictures!). It moved to my living room and now it needs a new home ;-)
The clock will be CAREFULLY packed and sent registered / tracked to its new loving owner! The balance will be \"wedged\" to avoid damage, and the clock will be triple bubble wrapped, marked FRAGILE!
****TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LOWERED PRICE NOW***, as I need funds for something else - my hurry, your gain!!!
