Up for offer is a Harman Kardon 330C receiver in very good condition. It operates perfectly and sounds great.
Power output is 20 watts per channel into 8 ohms, and, according to many sources, the output doubles into 4 ohms (though that isn\'t among HK\'s published specs). Most owners agree that the 20-watt rating seems very conservative, and that the 330C handles lower impedances without a problem.
Overall, the physical condition of this receiver is very good. A nick in the upper front edge is the primary defect in its appearance. The brushed metal control panel is free of major scratches, and the knobs are in good condition (the tuner knob has a 1/8 nick on the side). The black plastic front panel has one very light vertical scratch that\'s barely visible in normal light. All graphics and script are perfectly intact and legible. The rear panel is excellent throughout, with all connections working properly.
Tuner, phono, and aux (for CD) functions all work well. All pushbuttons and knobs work properly and quietly.
This \"C\" version of HK\'s long-running 330 line was produced from 1976 through 1977. Among 330C users, the sound is very often described as \"warm.\" My experience with the unit here confirms that. Treble and bass knobs are available to tailor the tone to your liking. To further reinforce bass output at lower volumes, the 330C includes a \"contour\" button (known elsewhere as \"loudness\").
Some issues:
The red light inside the power button doesn\'t illuminate.
The far-left bulb backlighting the tuner dial is out. (The dial markings are still fully legible).
The tuning meter doesn\'t work: The needle stays in one spot near the middle. Fortunately, the 330C includes a red \"stereo\" light to indicate that you\'re tuned in.
On this model, the dial pointer is not illuminated.
