HEATHKIT AS 1348 FLOOR MODEL SPEAKER SYSTEM

For sale is a pair of Heathkit floor standing speakers made circa 1979 when Heathkit was putting out their audiophile grade home audio components kits.

These speakers are very hard to find and are considered a prize for Heathkit collectors. I\'m finally liquidating all of my Heathkit gear and was going to just salvage the components out of these speakers, but then decided that maybe I should make an offer to those collectors first. It will be a small window of opportunity and if they don\'t sell then I will disassemble them for the woofers. These speakers can\'t compete with good modern day speakers but they do produce a very accurate sound. To work best the should beplaced close to a wall as the woofers use the wall as a low frequency resonance dispersion device. They will also work if moved away from the wall, just not as well.

The speaker array consists of two 4 1/2\" midranges and three 1\" high dome tweeters that are arranged over the top of the mids. Horizontal dispersion is increased because of the shape of the monting of these speakers. The lower part of the cabinet is filled with sound absorbing material that surrounds the rear-firing 15\" woofer. The woofer fires through a 24 square inch oppening that increases the low frequency output.

Dimensions of one speaker is approximately 38\" High by 24\" wide by 15 3/4 \" deep. Weight is approximately 93 lbs per speaker. Power handling capability is 200 watts. Original price in 1979 was $620.00 / pair.

Both speakers work as they should and the expected small nicks are present in a very few places since this is a 35+ year old piece of audio gear.The original Heathkit Assembly Manual is included also.
