Helping an elderly ham friend clean out his basement, here\'s a real gem that we found: an unbuilt Heathkit SB-1000 linear amplifier kit. If you missed out on the chance to build a Heathkit back in the day, here is your chance!My understanding is that my friend got this in a trade and not really needing another HF amplifier just never got around to building it so it\'s just sat all these years.Is it complete? I know I\'m going to get asked. Short of actually building the kit I cannot guarantee that it is complete. But I\'ll tell you what I know. On the top when you open the box is a packing slip that shows what should be there and in what compartment. Comparing what is listed on the packing slip and what I see on top, every package listed is there. You can see the packing list and the packages in the photos. The one item that will cause confusion is Pack #1: 173-4403. You won\'t find any item with that label, but I believe it refers to the bundle of wires. The items in Pack #1 are what you need to complete the very first step in construction (the rectifier board) and that includes several of the wires from the bundle.There is one problem with the kit being complete. As found, the manual was missing. My friend says he has it, but we have not found it yet. So what we\'ve done is purchase a used original manual and included that. You can see it was used to build a kit, as it\'s marked up. But it\'s all there and can be used again to build this kit.Please see the photos for the actual kit you will receive.I will ship this inside a larger box via either UPS or Fedex (buyer\'s choice) and will let them do the packing so that the shipment will be fully insured. I\'m charging a flat rate for shipping which probably will not cover the fully shipping cost.
