This is an sale for a very rare Westside Model Co. Southern Pacific class MK-10 2-8-2 Mikado - that is also a Long-Bell Lumber and originally a Minarets and Western mikado.
These engines have a very unique look and special appeal to them - large boiler and small drivers. This engine was all about pulling power and nothing about speed. The engines (4 prototypes) were originally built by Brooks for the Minarets and Western lumber company in the southeastern San Joaquin valley of CA. They were sold off and two wound up working on the SP\'s Portland and Shasta divisions.
The details on this model are incredibly well done. It has all separate piping, grabs, handrails, electric lines, bell and whistle cords, appliances, full cab detailing, brake shoe details, riveting galore, oil tender, rerail frogs, and more. Please look at the photos. Nothing is damaged or missing. The model is undecorated, painted brass and seal coated. There is no tarnish on the finish.
It is in its original box. The label has some slight tearing, but the foam and structure are perfect. The model has been stored and needs to be properly lubed and re-broken in. It is quiet but has an occasional stutter. The gears are solid. This is a DC model but could be DCC\'d with an N scale decoder and the tender floor has been pre-drilled by the manufacturer for speaker. This is a great chance to pick up an extremely hard to find, excellently detailed, and very good running Minarets and Western/Long-Bell Lumber/Southern Pacific class MK-10 2-8-2 Mikado for your layout or collection.Happy offerding, SALES TO USA AND CANADA ONLY, I only ship by UPS and insurance is mandatory due to high value. Please wait for my invoice before paying.
