New 5 LB. CAPACITY CERAMIC INFRARED ELEMENT Coffee Roaster
(effective roasting capacity indicated is for raw unroasted green coffee beans)Note that coffee roaster shown in pictures is the 10 lb. version. The 5 lb. version is just slightly smaller but same overall look. 110VAC Electric. Uses 20 amp plug.This Coffee Roaster comes fully assembled and ready to go. This Coffee Roaster is a proprietary design of metal-craftsman and is Hand Made in the U.S.A. The interior shell of the coffee roaster is heavy duty 100% stainless steel, with the back and sides covered in ceramic insulation held in place with a special outer aluminum sheath. Front all stainless steel door has high temperature glass viewing port. Coffee Roaster Drum is backlit during roasting operation.Coffee Roaster drum is 100% Stainless Steel for durability. Coffee Roaster Drum perforations are 5/32" diameter. Internal mixing vanes provide thorough bean mixing during operation. Coffee Roaster Drum rotates at 60 RPM, optimal rotation for drum coffee bean roasting. This Standard version has an analog thermometer that inserts through side of roaster and goes into drum to measure bean mass temp.THIS COFFEE ROASTER WILL DO BACK TO BACK ROASTSCoffee Roaster has special infrared heating elements, total element wattage is 2000; one element bank is located on the upper back wall of the roaster and one bank on the lower back wall. A chaff collection pan sits on bottom floor of roaster. This Standard version uses an on/off switch to control each heating element. Typical roasting times are 20 - 25 minutes for a full load to City+ roast on each particular capacity. Less beans being roasted will decrease the amount of time needed to achieve desired roast. You may preheat roaster to get a 5% to 10% reduction in roasting time. This coffee roaster has an electrical ventilation system for smoke extraction which vents the coffee bean roasting smoke to the outside. An on/off switch controls its use. I provide a 4' length of collapsible aluminum tubing that you can stick out a window; however you may wish to utilize a more permanent exhaust pipe solution if you roast often. This coffee roaster is designed for indoor use, however if you intend to do roasts darker than City+ (medium roast), to accomodate the much denser roasting smoke typical of dark roasts you may wish to add on a supplemental exhaust system or roast outdoors with it.To summarize roasting operation, take out coffee roaster drum and fill with coffee beans. Reinsert coffee roaster drum. Insert thermometer into coffee roaster. Turn on motor, heating elements, and exhaust fan. Remove coffee roaster drum with heat proof gloves and dump beans into applicable bean cooling utensil. Dechaff beans with your own dechaff device or one of our bean cooler/dechaffers which is available in our store (not included with roaster purchase). Operating and roasting instructions included.
