The Japanese soldier revered his bayonet just as his officer revered his Samurai sword. Bayonet fighting was stressed in the Imperial Japanese army, and many long hours were dedicated to learning the art of the bayonet. For training, IJA soldiers used a blunt edge version of the standard Type 30 Arisaka bayonet devoid of maker marks. This Imperial Japanese Army WW2 HOOKED QUILLON TYPE 30 ARISAKA TRAINING BAYONET is in good condition, with some light nicking to the blade tip, heavy patina at the right side of the blade, some patina at the left side of the blade, some light loosening to the guard, some scattered patina to the guard, tang, and pommel, some nicking and darkening to the right handle scale, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the bayonet is in fine shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, it features a 15 3/16" blunt edge blade that was factory left "in the white", boasts the classic early war hooked quillon, and is correctly unmarked as to its maker. Itsports tough brown hardwood handle scales, bears a fully functional "locking lug" attachment at the pommel, and is complete with the original Imperial Japanese WW2 Lightweight Steel Training Scabbard in fair condition, with a 3" crack in the lower right edge, heavy denting along the right edge, a small spot dent in the upper left edge, some loosening to the frog tab at the throat, having been painted black at some point in the past, and with some overall scratching, patina, and age wear evident (most pictured).
