WilliamRidgway produced this fascinating mid-19th century transferware pattern in severalcolorways. Here we have the purple version, which we think is the most attractive.
Thepattern name, “Flosculous,” means having many florets or flowers, which thispattern certainly does. In addition, the pattern features a large central triskele,a three-legged spiral symbol with deep roots in Celtic and pre-Celtic cultures.
Thishandsome plate with its scalloped edge is 9” in diameter. It is in excellentcondition with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. The transfer is crisp and clear. There is light glaze crackling, some light stains on the underside, and light utensil marks on the face. Itdisplays beautifully.
Thiswill be a wonderful addition to your collection of English transferware.Pleaselet us know if you have questions or would like additional photos. Thanks forlooking!
