Beautiful vintage Art Decor Inlaid Wood Works Hand Made in Italy music box with a lute and sheet music and floral pattern on a solid nicely grained hardwood top with black edging. The bottom of the box has four plastic legs and is marked as noted. The interior is red velvet lined. The box is in very good vintage condition and plays nicely. It measures 6 inches long X 4 1/2 inches wide 2 1/2 inches high. Approximate Measurements: The interior lines portion of the box measures 4 5/8 inches X 3 3/8 inches. One side of the box measuring 2 1/4 X 3 3/8 X 1 1/8 inches high conceals the music box piece, leaving about a 1/2 inch high area to place an item on. The other half of the interior is about 2 5/8 inches X 3 3/8 inches and 1 1/2 inches deep, leaving sufficient space of a watch and/or other items. The box weighs just under 1 pound.
The box plays \"Torna a Surriento\" (a Neapolitan song composed in 1902 by Italian musician Ernesto De Curtis to works by his poet and painter brother, Giambattista De Curtis. This is one of the most popular songs in this genre and I am sure you can find a clip of it online).
