This is a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2" original gouache painting by Jay Lynch. Hand painted with a tiny brush under a magnifying glass, this mini-masterpiece is the ultimate collectable for both sketch card collectors AND underground comix fanciers! In l968, while doing Wacky Packages trading card gags along with Art Spiegelman for Topps Chewing Gum in order to make a living, Lynch's most sincere work was appearing in the pages of the early underground comix. Many of the stories Lynch did in the pages of his highly collectable BIJOU Funnies have stood the test of time. Today, they are regarded as classics of 20th century comic art and storytelling. 'Tis little wonder Lynch's '60s comix work is held in high regard in the pages of every intelligently-edited history of comics book published within the last four decades. His Nard n' Pat characters are beloved by all but 483 people living on this planet today, and Lynch's classic 1969 piece of graphic poetry in comic strip form, UM TUT SUT, was truly the mantra of the Woodstock Generation. An insanely detailed piece of comic book history, in the form of this wee piece of original art which Lynch has just finished painting, is now up for offers! This is truly a red letter day for art collectors the world over! "But take heed!" warns Lynch, "This here painting ain't for the unsophisticated! There's LUCKY MOJO in every brush stroke!" He then picks up his shaman's rattle, shakes it and begins chanting some unintelligible gibberish. When we quiz him on the meaning of his chant he replies: "Immediate payment IS required!"
