The Beauty of Japanese craftsmanship. This is the Traditional Japanese Bamboo Keiryu Rod “Yamabe –zao”. This real vintage bamboo Yamabe-rod was made in about 1950s by Jingoro, who was Kawaguchi bamboo rod artisan. Recently famous bamboo rod craftsman “Saoshosaku” has done “Hi-ire(straightening by fire) and “Urushi-nuri(Japanese lacquering) to this rod for sale.
It is said that the workmanship for bamboo fishing rods around Kawaguchi area can be traced to Tenmei era(1780s). The bamboo fishing rods manufactured at the surrounding areas are called plug-in type multi-joint rods. Only 2 – 3 joint rods may from an integral fishing rod by plug-in assembly, so it is portable. They are mostly made of fish pole bamboos so that they are easy to grab, flexible and hard to break.
This Keiryu rod is designed for small fish such as Yamabe(Hae), so we recommend to use up to 0.6Go(6X) line, light weight line system fishing. The rod is basically for bait fishing. Object fish should be up to 25cm trout. Of course you can fish bigger fish but make sure to use light weight line system to protect the rod.
