JOCKEY brand-vintage coconut knife/ cleaver, 8.4 mm thick blade Wood handle RARE
Very unusual vintage coconut knife/cleaver branded JOCKEY - probably of British pre-WW2 origin; circa 1920-1930. Exotic curved blade with manually struck bevel on one side has an interesting blunt tip with a wedge-shaped top corner for prying open coconut shells, tree bark, etc. Drop-forged blade is set in the oak handle, secured with 2 pins and a forge-hammered steel O-ring. Beefy blade is 8.4 mm thick at the base; this knife is just perfect for chopping. The knife is about 12\" / 30.5 cm overall; the blade is about 4-1/8\" / 17 cm long. The handle is solid with zero movement. High-carbon steel blade is still sharp but has a number of small edge chips (could be re-sharpened); one side is boldly struck with an oval shaped logo JOCKEY; no other markings are present. Very unusual and hard to find vintage chopper; you will not be disappointed.
