Gorgeous and Rare Renaissance Revival side chair of carved and parcel gilt rosewood. attributed to John Jelliff of Newark, New Jersey. The chair features and ovular back supported by two side rails with wonderfully carved palmettes on top. The crest is topped with anotherpalette with bell flowers cascading from either side of it, all framing a wonderfully carved mother of pearl roundel framed with a bronze laurel wreath. The chair is covered in a moss green velvet, which has a few minor imperfections but presents wonderfully. I will be repairing the loose gimp on the back before shipping. The original finish has some problems when you get close to it. I have tried to capture this in the photographs. There is some damage to the Rosewood on the legs, which I have also pictured. The chair is sturdy, and has tight joints. Perfectly usable and sure to be a gem in any collection. I will be shipping Greyhound, so please keep your closest location in mind before offerding.
