JVC JL-A40 Professional High Fidelity Direct Drive Auto Return Turntable.
It has been play tested and found to be in mostly working condition(it is playing and sounding OK in the pictures)but it does have a developing issue with pitch control.The unit switches between 45 and 33 fine but it doesn\'t quite stay dialed at the perfect pitch, the strobe waivers. Also it sometimes needs a little push to get the platter started spinning.
The issue could be as simple as some de-oxit applied to the pitch control POTS or it may require some actual electronics work.The service manual indicates that this may mean replacing one or more of the transistors X1-X8.Easy for someone who knows how but it\'s beyond my soldering skills.
My starting price is at about the re-sale value of the dust cover and original OEM head shell.So this is a good parts machine for a buyer who wants to part it out for profit or to keep it on hand to supply parts to an existing deck.
buyers should be aware that as with any vintage audio item anything can go wrong at any time, that\'s just part of the game.
The turntable will come with the original OEM head shell as pictured but WITHOUT the Andante H (Sumiko?) cartridge and stylus pictured. The cartridge and stylus were mounted to photograph the unit during normal operation.

If you are new to turntables and especially if this is your first turntable you are responsible for learning how to set your turntable up.Your inability to correctly set up your turntable is not grounds for a complaint. I have shipped many turntables, most without any problems.They do have to be partially dis-assembled to ship safely and this can be confusing if you are not familiar with turntable set up.Manuals are available for download or purchase on the internet.
I will be happy to help as a last resort but you really need to know how your turntable works and is set up.
