LOETZ, SCHAUMGLAS, EDUARD PROCHASKA TECHIQUE, FOAM GLASS, HTF~~~:
$245.00

For sale is a lovely Vase made by Loetz Klostermuehle of Bohemia which is now the modern day Czech Republic. The Pattern is called \"Schaumglas\" and the shape is a tapered flaring form. The Vase stands 4 1/8\" tall and 6 5/8\" in diameter and the foot has a diameter of 2 1/2\".The Vase displays a tapered flaring shape. It starts out wide at the mouth and then comes in and tapers down to a small foot. The foot is formed from this single piece of glass and is part of the main vase. The body of the vase is a clear base glass and it is decorated the white foam strands and very small bubbles encased. This was known as the \'Schaumglas\' or foam-glass technique. The rarity of the piece comes from the applied iridescent rods and threads of glass with the pad molded base that are techniques of Eduard Prochaska from thirty years earlier. It was made with a body of glass with color (usually white, red or black inclusion) with trapped air bubbles in the décor ~ multiple bubbles as in foam. These vases have proven to be hard finds through all my years of collecting art glass. I have only seen a few examples in different colors. This decor is also similar to WMF\'s Ikora style of Art Glass. I can find the Ikora glass with much ease but not the Loetz Schaumglas. The Vase is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no cracks, nicks, chips or dings. The Vase is not signed but it does have a wonderful nicely rolled and fire polished top rim and countersink polished pontil. This the mark of a quality piece of Art Glass. The piece is unsigned and more than likely had a paper or foil label at one time.If you collect Art Glass by Loetz and want a different example than you normally see, this one is for you. This is a quality piece of Art Glass and I\'m sure the Buyer will not be disappointed. This Vase was made late in Loetz\'s production, Circa 1935.
