I was fortunate to acquire an old Patternmakers tool chest and I am now selling 3 lots of chisels from that chest:

LOT 3- Here we have anAntique Heavy Duty CHARLES BUCK Patternmakers3 Pc. Crank-Neck, Swan-Neck Wood Gouge Chisel Set. Buck Brothers was formed in 1853by John, Charles and Richard T. Buck in Rochester, NY, after immigrating fromEngland and working for D. R. Barton. In1856, they moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, then in 1864 to Millbury, MA. John stayed in Worcester as part of Buck& Reeves, later rejoining Buck Brothers as only an employee. CharlesBuck had a fight with his brother and started his own edge tool companyin 1873. He used the mark CHARLES BUCKCAST STEEL. Old timers say Charles\' edge tools were very slightly superior tothose of his brother.

This jointers or patternmakers set of tang-style IN-CANNEL Crank - Neck Gouges is in very good condition. All of the original handles are present. There are no cracks in any of the handles. Each handle has a very good brass ferrule. All of the blades are in very, very, good condition with no rust or pitting. They have sharp edges but should betuned up by the new owner before use. Every chisel is stamped: CHARLES BUCK CAST STEEL. For reference the biggest/longest gouge is 17-3/8\" long. You get the following width gouges: 1-1/4, 1-1/2, and 2\". The 1-1/4\" gouge has a very shallow curved edge (see pics). Several of the handles have the Patternmaker\'s initials: BGS.
