Thisis a lot of 3 rare antique/vintage Battersea V Triangle Plumbago Clay Crucibles made bythe Morgan Crucible Company in England that are probably from the early to mid 1900s. I was told they came from a retired MITchemist professor and are not made like this anymore. They appear to havenever been used to refine precious metals or they would not be in suchexcellent condition, having no cracks and minimal chips or nicks which makesthem great for display. Crucibles areoften destroyed when heated to very high heat necessary to melt gold etc. They are about 3” across the top and 3 ½”high. The Morgan company was founded inBattersea in South London by the six Morgan brothers in 1856 as The PatentPlumbago Syndicate Limited to make graphite crucibles.
