Vintage Steam Engine D valves

We acquired these D valves at a building that was to be remodeled. These were a various collection of extra or used parts. The one that is not a slide valve was a piston rod compression seal seat. I believe, from research, that this is what it is called for on the face of the cylinder area there is graphite where the seal would have been compressed. There were steam engine pumps everywhere in this building - no wonder they needed extra parts! Only one pair of the D valves had a number onit, so they musthave been from a two-cylinder double-acting engine - C.G.42-D. They are nice and flat. You can tell where they have been worn. This matched pair - wouldn\'t hurt tohave them faced up to go into actionimmediately. The other pair - I can\'t see any worn marks on them but one of them is really oily and the sides are clean and they have no numbers, and they sit real close together (putting them face-to-face). They probably just need cleaning up. The large D valve is very thin. It has probably been faced a lot, or it may just have been manufactured that way. I can\'t tell - I\'m not that familiar with various styles of D valves. It has clean edges and is not damaged that I cansee.
A very large boiler, it heated a nine-story building!!
