Lycoming O-540-J3C5D # L-21622-40A from Cessna R182 # R182-01188. Airplane was damaged in an in-flight fire. Broken fuel fitting Tee was the cause. Google the NTSB report on N292LC for laughs. The NTSB threw me under a bus w/ their report which was BS. This engine ran like a Rolex all the way and I shut it down w/ the mixture control before the fire trucks arrived so no foam was sucked into the motor. Smoke damage is obvious. All rubber was heat damaged. Fuel system was removed. No mag/carb/alternator/starter included (*you can contact me for those items if you need them). 3990 TT, 1850 SMOH by Mattituck. Very strong when 'retired'. Logbooks included. Excellent for an Experimental Aircraft or as a core for buildup. Those looking to convert to dual independent magnetos will need to change out the accessory case. Those looking to use the new Electronic Ignition systems should be ok as-is. Set up for Bendix D-Mag right now. Engine was capped and preserved when removed and has been sitting 3 years since. I bought a run-out replacement TR-182 w/ the same basic engine and was keeping this around till I had overhauled the motor on the replacement bird in case I had a bad crank or something like that. Darn crankshafts go for $7000 on their own. Anyway, the overhaul is complete so now I can let this go. Ask anything. Full disclosure is promised!Priced realistically at $5850 for a quick sale using the Buy-It-Now option. Local pick-up in New Hyde Park NY or I can pallet-ize and strap if you want it shipped FOB. Want to see it? So would I ! Pre-buy Inspection is absolutely welcome by you, your A/P, etc. Borescope pix will show clean walls, w/ nice clean bulls-eyes on the exhaust valve faces. Good deal (and a heck of a bar story). This is not a ready-to-go powerplant. For an experienced owner, you can do what is needed to make this airworthy and save a ton of
dollars on a very under-stressed model of the Lycoming O-540.
O-540s turn out over 300 HP in other applications. This was
rated to 235 HP and turned a max of 2400 RPM its whole life. I will answer all questions honestly and w/ 100% full disclosure. I am a pilot myself. Check my 100% positive response as both a seller and a buyer please. For the right buyer, this is a terrific deal. What you see is what you get. Please ask questions. Shipping: Prefer local pick up or I can put this on a pallet and you can have it picked up by motor carrier of your choice (You make the arrangements). I work in a place w/ a forklift and we're open normal business hours and Saturdays so trucks can come here to load up easily. Willing to deliver within 150 miles for $1.30/ mile plus tolls both ways but that would need to be paid in advance. You 'll need a forklift on your end to unload.48 States Only. Not interested in following a lost item to New Guinea. :)
