This collection of Minnesota Engine Works items includes:

Complete original 601 Working Jet Engine kit with all parts and instructions. Additional M.E.W. Plans, copy of the \"Messenger\" Newsletter and also hand drawn sketches.

Never assembled or fired, this 601 kit is decades old and was tucked away along with the other documentation included here and is now offered for sale.

The 601 motor was a popular item from 1949 thru the 60’s offered by mail order from ads in Popular Science/Mechanics and even comic books. Many hours were often spent by hobbyists designing craft to utilize the raw jet power these engines were expected to deliver.

This kit still has the fiberglass filter yarn and the micro screen still sealed in cellophane as it came from the factory. The packaging shows age and some rust is evident but it is still a worthy collectible, together with the rarely seen M.E.W. documentation.

Also included in this listing are two original hand drawn sketches and plans that no doubt were carefully thought out. One is for a \"dyanometer\" test bed to determine thrust and the other is for an aircraft \"flying test bed\", both are also decades old.

Another included original piece is blue print style sheet sent by M.E.W. to anyone who ordered the \"Construction Plans\" for the MODERN 601 from them for $1.00 ………..At first glance it could be mistaken for the operating instruction included with the 601 kit but in fact it provides much more information including dimensions, different nozzle sizes, operating times and details not published anywhere else. This is not a copy but the original piece mailed only to those who paid for it.

There is also a set of docs that are photocopies of \"The M.E.W. Messenger\" ( 1950\'s ?) newsletter which was sent free to anyone who purchased the 601 plans. This is a4 page treasure trove of additional M.E.W. info, plans, details and parts list. One of the plans suggests using 8 engines on an \"XB-49\" aircraft model.
