18th c Fine very Rare clock by the famous Clock case maker \"Richard Steventon\" From Drayton, London.
Acquire from Bonhams sale House, 101 New Bond Street, London in the early 90s.
The case is a rare one and not many come up for sale and I have to say has to be one of the nicest cases I have seen in years.
The pictures do not do this clock justice at all it looks much nicer personally.
CASE: Oak wood with carved Renaissance Design of Gargoyles on the door, in excellent condition for the age.
MOVEMENT: runs very smoothly for the 8 day with more or less a minute or two discrepancy extremely precise for a clock nearly 300 years old. (One of the main drum tooth (strike side) has been repaired from the original owner before went to sale.
DIAL: Renaissance late 17th style with Bronze Cherubs and heavy Brass thick plate
Weights: original 18 th c.
Wood base board: not original had a crack and was too fragile to support the weights.
As you might know Fine British clocks are rare and sought after by collectors.
The Moon Dial also has the ORIGINAL paint but doesn\'t turn, there is nothing broken I cant see why is not working.
The only man I trusted to work on my clocks was a 90 year old clockmaker from massashusets but unfortunately he passed away in late 90s.
