Messerschmitt BF-109
This listing is for a Free Flight balsa and tissue modelairplane kit from Guillows. The wingspanof the completed model is 16.5 inches. The scale is approximately 1/30. Thiskit is similar to the kits from our youth. I have fond memories of buildingseveral balsa and tissue Comet Airplanes purchased at the 5 & 10 store.
The German 109 was a feared adversary throughout WWII despite thedevelopment of newer aircraft. It was built under license in severalcountries and served in a number of air forces for a number of years after thewar.
The Messerschmitt BF-109 was a standard GermanLuftwaffe single seat fighter for nearly a decade. It is believed that morethan 33,000 of these fighters were produced between 1936 and the end of WorldWar 2. During the war, the BF-109 fought on every front in which the Luftwaffewas engaged. The BF-109 first saw actual combat during the Spanish Civil Warwhere it proved to be an effective weapon against the Russian Fighters of theRepublic forces. The BF-109 was considered an excellent fighter since ithandled well and possessed excellent low speed control response.
