This is a veryrare early c1890s \"unusually small \"PROSPECTORS MINERS ROCK PICK\" This prospectors pick is very unique because it is only 10\" long with a very early style head that is only 5\" long. It also has the owners initials \"W-P\" stamped into the head. It was found deep underground in an abandoned 1890s mine and hasn\'t seen light in over 110 years.. These rock picks were used by prospectors to break open ore samples and when I find them underground like this one they were used by miners in gold and silver mines to cull high grade ore. It reminds me of the cool little rock pick the guy used to break out of prison in The Shawshank Redemption movie. If you want to own only one really unique cool looking early prospectors pick, this little 1890s one used underground with the miners initials is nice..Good Luck
