up for your consideration is a Motorola CM300 VHF 32 channel radio (currently programmed for 27 channels) 146-174Mhz
the radio is programmed with ALL MURS frequencies, using pl 67.0 the radio also contains some common ham simplexes, a few businessitinerants and the 7 common NOAA weather broadcast frequencies. see the photos for the channel configuration
this mobile transmits between 18-20 watts. its rated for high power, but I don\'t know why it puts out less power. 13-15 watts is still sufficient power with a mobile antenna. see the pics of the professional BIRD watt meter, read the Bottom red scale. radio draws about 6 amps. in an battery or solar environment such as preppers would plan for, the lower transmitpower will allow the battery to last longer and possibly run directly from one solar panel if its atleast a 150 watt 18v panel with a voltage regulator/charge controller.
radio comes with a mic. no bracket is included sold as is. I have mounted radios with silicone caulk and it works fine as long as you support the radio with tape or sticks until it cures, so that could be an option for you.
