Mustang/Cougar Toploader 4-speed transmission:
$1650.00

This is a fresh, cast-iron Ford T&C (Town & Country) transmission that\'s got 0 miles since being rebuilt. I have the receipt for the work done in 1 of the pics (comings) totaling over $1600 so you are not likely to find a deal like this.
The name Toploader came from how gears are assembled thru the top and covered with a lid...one design feature giving it greater strength.Ford made them from 1964-73 & they are widely coveted for their durability. They are stronger than the Borg Warner T10, which they replaced.
I had it built by TopLoader guru David Kee of San Antonio, TX for my 69 Boss 302. Check out his website at4speedtoploaders.
3-4 months later, I found the correct one with the proper ID tag for my Boss (RUG AG) so I no longer need this 1. (Isn\'t that the way it always is?)
The tag on this unit indicates it has Close Ratio (CR) gears & was originally made for a 68 Mustang 390 with \'RUG AD\' stamped on it.It also has the partial VIN of that vehicle stamped on the right/front mounting ear, 8F215447, as was done on all special Fords. This transmission will no longer work on a 390 but only because the input shaft is different (390 shaft was slightly longer) and was replaced to work in 302/351s (all SBFs)
HD features were added via a custom DKT (David Kee Transmissions) tail shaft during rebuild: 1) the vented tail shaft allows hot gases to escape (from racing conditions) w/out blowing a seal/gasket or losing fluid. 2) has the improved horizontal rear mount (vs inline) which all later Ford trannys used. Solid & polyurethane mounts are made to fit this. 3) multiple shifter mount locations(3) make this transmission usable with virtually all SBFs installed in any 60s/70s Ford except Cobras, Tigers & Galaxies. (i.e. Torino, Falcon, Fairlane, Ranchero, etc... but please verify for yourself)
There is a drain plug in the bottom of the main case (Ford stopped doing this in 1969.)Hurst shift rods not included nor lift are included.Date code on main case is \"C27\" (March 27, 1968)The shipping cost is an estimate but these are heavy at around 100 lbs.
