To my knowledge the majority of the 300+- images contained within this publication have never been published before. Thephotographs date from the post World War I era - 1918-1919 to the 1950s.

This is the most comperhensive study of the stations and structures along the New York Central'sRiver Division ever printed! Volume 1 covers the short distance between National Junction (below the PRR's Waldo Yard) in Jersey City, New Jerseyto the west portal of the Weehawken Tunnel. There are numermous illustrations taken in Jersey City, Hoboken, Weehawken, and West New York, New Jersey.Water Towers, a roundhouse, a turntable, crossing cabins, switch cabines, piers, bulkheads, stations, transfer bridges and covered freight sheds are just some of the types of structures this book explores.
