This sale is for the ORIGINAL World War One First Corps Uniform Grouping of Private First Class Cassianus Paoly who Served in Company \"B\" of Both the 127th and 137th Engineers. This Grouping Includes PFC Paoly\'s Elaborately Painted British Brodie\'s Helmet that is Complete with Second Pattern Liner & Unbroken Chinstrap. This Helmet is Featured on Page 114 of the Chris Armold\'s Book, Painted Steel: Steel Pots Volume Two. This Helmet is So Extraordinary that THREE Photos of It are Included on the Page. It is One of Only a Few Helmets in the Book that are Shown with Such Distinction. This Grouping is GUARANTEED 100% For LIFE to Be Exactly As Described, Completely Original and Every Aspect Authentic to the WWI Period. NOTHING Has Been Added or Taken Away. Every Aspect of the Helmet is Completely Authentic and it Has NOT Been Lacquered, Shellacked or Oiled. Also included with this Grouping is PFC Paoly\'s M1917 Wool Tunic, M1912 Wool Breeches, Set of Identification Tags on Original Cord, Twelve Pages of Research, Overseas Cap, WWI Charleroi, Pennsylvania Veteran\'s Medal, Two Aluminum Rings and Three Overcoat Buttons. This Grouping is Very Well Researched and Documented. In Our Opinion it is a Museum Quality Grouping that Could Easily fit Into the Holdings of an Advanced Collector. The helmet Truly Makes it Very Unique and a One of a Kind Collection.1. WWI FIRST CORPS ENGINEERS M1917 TUNIC - VERY GOOD CONDITION - This Tunic shows minor signs of age, wear and use but remains very solid with NO readily apparent soiling, staining, streaking or fading. The Tunic Maintains Very Good Color with NO Damage to any stitching and NO rips or tears to any of the wool. There is a Very Small Moth \"Bite\" to the Upper Left Back, Near the Shoulder that is Larger than a Pencil Lead, but Does NOT Penetrate to the Interior of the Tunic. There is also an Approximately One Inch Line of Wear to the Right Cuff and Some Wear to the area of the Right Elbow. NONE of these Minor Blemishes Detract from the Tunic when Displayed. The Tunic Bears an Applied Wool Engineer\'s Insignia Patch to the Left Shoulder that Consists of a Sky Blue Field with Red Engineer\'s Castle and White Cord Stitched Almost Completely Around the Edge of the Circular Field. The Patch / SSI Shows Only Minor Signs of Age and Wear and Maintains Very Good Color with NO Mothing Soiling or Staining. The Patch Remains Firmly Attached by it\'s Original Thread. The Left Sleeve also Bears a Single Red Honorable Discharge Chevron the Shows Visible Fading but Remains Firmly Applied. The Left Cuff Bears a Single Gold Overseas Service Chevron that Remains in Very Good Condition and also Firmly Applied. The Right Sleeve Bears a Round Applied Wool Private First Class Engineers Insignia that Remains in Very Good Condition and Firmly Attached as Well. The Collar Maintains it\'s \"US / 137\" and Engineers Company \"B\" Collar Discs in Very Good Condition and Maintaining their Original Round Fasteners to the Rear. The Collar is MISSING the Upper LOOP for the Hook and Loop Collar Fastening Clips. The Remaining Clips are Firmly in Place. The LEFT Chest Bears an Outstanding Example of a Charleroi, Pennsylvania WWI Veteran\'s Medal in Near Mint Condition. Very Nice, High Quality Medal with No Blemishes or Damage of Any Sort. The Left Chest Also Bears a US WWI Victory Ribbon in Good Condition and also a Local (City, County or Veteran\'s Organization) Victory Ribbon in Fair Condition. The Tunic Maintains All of it\'s Original Buttons in Very Good Condition and Remaining firmly Attached by what appears to be their Original Thread. The INTERIOR of the Tunic also Remains in Very Good to Excellent Condition with No Readily Apparent Soiling, Staining or Fading. The Cotton Liner Maintains it\'s Contract / QMD Tag stitched to the rear and Can be Seen in the Photos Above. The Tunic is a Nice Size and Fits Easily on a Size 38 Mannequin Torso. The MEASUREMENTS Are: CHEST = 20 Inches Measured from Armpit to Armpit Across the Front when Buttoned and Laying Flat; BACK = 18 Inches from Shoulder Seam to Shoulder Seam Measured Across the Upper Back, Just Below the Collar; SLEEVES = 24 Inches from Top Shoulder Seam to Cuff.2. WWI US Engineers Elaborately Painted British Brodie\'s Helmet - VERY GOOD CONDITION - This Helmet Shows Signs of Age, Wear and Use Throughout but NO Dings, Dents, Rust or Corrosion. It Maintains it\'s Worn, But Solid Brodie\'s Second Pattern Liner and Worn, but Unbroken Chinstrap. The Exterior Bears a BEAUTIFUL and VERY ORNATE Series of Soldier Art Paintings that are Extremely Well Done. The Soldier Who Painted this Helmet Definitely Had Artistic Talent as This is Above and Beyond Most Soldier Art Painted Helmets that We Find. The front of the Helmet Bears the Engineers Insignia with Two Large American Flags to Each Side and a Bust Portrait of a Soldier in Uniform Wearing a Helmet to the Rear. A Red, White and Blue Five Pointed Star Surrounds the Crown Rivet at the Top of the Helmet. The Paintings Show Minor Age and Wear with Some Visible Age Darkening and Minor Paint Loss that is Visible in the Photos. The Paintings Maintain EXCELLENT Detail and BRIGHT Colors. The Paintings Remain Highly Visible and All Images and Detail are Very Easy to See. The Photos that We Have Provided DO NOT Do this Helmet Justice. It looks Much Better in Person. The Interior of the Helmet Bears a Worn, Yet Solid Brodie\'s Second Pattern Liner. The Oil Cloth Shows Age, Wear and Use but No Readily Apparent Rips, Splits, Tears or Other Damage. It Remains Soft and Flexible, but We Have NOT Folded it Down and Will Leave that Up to You. The Felt Crown Pad Shows Visible Mothing, Age and Wear as Well as Soiling and Staining. The Cotton Portions such as the Adjuster Webbing and String Also Show Age, Wear and Soiling from Use. The Leather Liner Rim Shows NO Readily Apparent Signs of Rot or Other Damage and is Not Warped or Collapsing in on Itself. The Leather Chinstrap Shows Visible Age and Wear and Appears to Have Had a Leather \"Preservative\" Applied at Some Point in it\'s Life as it has Aged to a Dark Appearance. The Chinstrap Shows Cracking but NO Separations, Splits or Tears. The Interior Portion of the Chinstrap Remains Solid and Firmly Attached to the Crown Rivet. The Chinstrap Loops and Buckle Show Age and Wear but Remain Undamaged. This Chinstrap as with Most, Should be Handled with Care and Caution. If taken Care of and Handled Properly, it Should Remain in the Helmet for Some Time to Come.3. WWI US M1912 Wool Breeches - VERY GOOD to EXCELLENT CONDITION - Breeches show minor signs of age, wear and use but NO readily apparent mothing, soiling or staining. There is NO apparent damage to any material or stitching and they remain very solid. The breeches maintain all of their \"US Army\" Marked Pewter Buttons and Excellent Condition Laces to the Calves. The INTERIOR Waistband Bears the FADED, But VISIBLE Handwritten Last Name \"PAOLY\" that Can be Seen in the Photos Above. The Interior Waistband and Cotton Pocket Liners Show Age, Use, Soiling from Wear and Age Darkening, but No Damage. The QMD tag is worn with no information remaining visible. The MEASUREMENTS Are: OVERALL LENGTH = 38 Inches Measured from the Top Edge of the Waistband to the Cuff; INSEAM = 28 3/4 Inches Measured from Crotch to Cuff; WAIST = 33 Inches Measured Around the Exterior Circumference of the Waistband.4. WWI Identification or \"Dog\" Tags or PFC Cassianus Paoly - GOOD CONDITION - Dog Tags show signs of age, wear and use but ALL Information Remains Clearly Visible and Easy to See. Front of Dog Tags Read \"Cassianus Paoly USA\" with the Rear Bearing His Service Number, \"2602129.\" Tags Remain on their Original Cloth Cord that Shows Age, Wear and Soiling from Use but Remain Solid with No Apparent Damage or Rot. Attached to the Cord are Two Aluminum Rings that MAY Have Been and Abandoned Trench Art Project.5. WWI US Army Overseas Cap with Engineers Disc - EXCELLENT CONDITION - Cap Shows only Minor Signs of Age, Wear and Use. NO Readily Apparent Mothing, Soiling, Staining, Streaking or Fading and Maintains Very Good Color. Interior Shows Soiling from Wear to Cloth Sweatband but Nothing that is Detractive. The Engineers Disc to the Left Side Remains Excellent as Well and Maintains it\'s Original Round Fastener to the Rear. Cap Appears to be Approximately a Size 6 7/8 to Size 7.6. Twelve Pages of Recent Research that Includes Copies of Original Documents and Information Garnered from Online Genealogical Websites. Information does a very good job of documenting the grouping as Well as PFC Paoly\'s Service and Life. We are Also Including a Nice Color Photo Copy of the Page from \"Painted Steel\" for You to Display with the Grouping, in Case You Do Not Own the Book. The research that you receive also provides more than enough information to conduct further research if you so choose.Overall, this is a BEAUTIFUL Grouping that Displays Extremely Well and is Very Eye Catching.
