Click to View Image Album Welcome to our sale. You are invited to offer on this beautiful authentic Apache ceremonial burden basket. These baskets were once made for everyday use in collecting needed items or gathering food. The tin cones at the bottoms of the fringe strips would jingle to scare away snakes. Small burden baskets were given to the Apache children by their parents. As mothers worked in the field, she could hear the jingles and know where her children were. Large burden baskets were often used for food storage. Today many of these baskets are made for collectors, or for special use in young girls coming of age ceremony or \"Sunrise Dance\". Almost a forgotten art now, Apache baskets are made of natural materials such as Devils Claw, willow, yucca root and sometimes cottonwood. This basket is of a good size measuring 6 1/2\" deep and having a 7 1/4\" diameter across the top rim. The basket length (including fringe) is 13\". This beautiful basket is in excellent condition and this hard-to-acquire work of art will make an excellent addition to your collection.
