Near Mint WWI M-1917 Bayonet by Remington Dated 1913 with Leather Scabbard P1913:
$107.50

Near mint Bayonet, M-1917 (British Pattern 1913) designedto fit the US-made .30 cal M-1917 rifle, this was used by US forces during WWI and the early part of WWII. The handle of this US-made bayonet has two grooves across it to distinguish it from the British Pattern 1907 bayonet made for the WWI Lee-Enfield. During WWII these bayonets were used on pump-action shotguns such as the Winchester M-1897. Also known as the Pattern 1913 sword bayonet. It was made underlicense by the US for Britain during WWI for theBritish No. 3, Pattern 14 rifle. The ricasso is marked Remington, 1913, 12 15, and stamped on the opposite side with British broad arrow and inspector proof marks. See photos. This near mintspecimen looks as if it was never issued or used. The scabbard is in excellent condition for its vintage. The scabbard pictured is a No. I Mk.II scabbard with the teardrop frog stud. Blade appears to be in original condition has not beensharpened. The blade is coated in a dark gray material that is non-greasy and does not rub off easily. Could it be a by-product of the manufacturing process or was it applied to protect against rust? I have never seen another example of this type of bayonet in this condition with this coating. Ifyou have questions please ask.
