Chevrolet introduced a completely new look for its truck line in 1941, and it was carried over into 1942 with few changes. The wide bars of the grille and the streamlined headlight housings set into flat-topped front fenders were dramatic departures from earlier Chevrolet trucks. The art deco inspired styling carried these trucks the nickname \"Wurlitzer Juke Boxers\". The 1942 Chevrolet 1 1/2 ton, 134\" wheelbase\" MR Series truck came equipped with a six-cylinder engine and four speed manual transmission.
As war loomed, chromed accents gave way to painted trim, resulting in the \"Blackout models\". Civilian truck production shut down in early 1942 with Chevrolet devoting itself entirely to the war effort. When peacetime production resumed after V-J Day, the truck line was virually identical to the 1942 models. Minor improvement were made for the 1946, with final assembly of the last \"Juke Boxes\" in May of 1947.
