These engines are even lighter then the 277\'s and more compact making them perfect for weight consideration projects and builds. ENGINE SPECS: Model: 253 Rotax Alpha SCSI 248cc single cylinder fan cooled cooled 2-stoke. Bore is 72mm and the stroke is 61mm. . Horsepower is factory rated at 28hp.
IGNITION: Engine is currently set-up running the single Nippendenso CDI(electronic) ignition..Magneto has both generator and lighting coils with AC 12V 75/23W
CARBURATION/FUEL: Fuel intake is via one Mikuni 36mm round slide carb which is pneumatically feed from a single outlet Mikuni fuel pump. Carb is equipped with a hand primer warm-up
COOLING: Cooling is provided via direct air flow across the engine and internal fan assembly..
BASE ENGINE DATA: Engine case is all aluminum with the cylinder being a lightweight aluminum alloy with cast iron liner.
PTO/DRIVE: PTO is the industry standard 30mm 1.125 tapered. Engine will accept, belt reductions, direct bolt prop hubs, coupler\'s and power transmission\'s set-up for this configuration. PTO spins counterclockwise as viewed looking directly down on the end of the engine. Engine also has (3) 10mm mount-holes around the pto and engine case, where you might be able to adapt a Rotax gearbox to the engine.
WEIGHT/SIZE: Engine weighs just 36 pounds as shown below with no electric start or drive... Engine sizing is roughly as follows, 15\" from the back of the carburetor to the outside of the fan housing, 13 3/4\" in height from the bottom of the recoil housing to the top of the spark plug and 11\" from the outside of the pull starter housing to the tip of the PTO. This is a very lightweight compact engine. Engine can also be fitted with the statnd Rotax 377-447-503 free air adapter for even more weight savings.
MOUNTING/APPLICATION: This model engine is equipped from the factory with a four hole arrangement on the bottom of the of the engine along with provisons for side/cradle mounts. This pattern will allow for motor plates, root tube set-ups and many other configurations for mounting. Engine can be ran and mounted in both the inverted, horizontal or vertical positions. It can also be ran in both tractor and pusher applications.
STARTING: Engine is fitted with a standard pulls starter, but this engine will take the standard Rotax 377-447 electric start kits.
APPLICATIONS: This 253 Rotax would make a great choice for any of your ultralight, hovercraft and airboat fields, but also would work out great in a ton of other land and water based applications where you need a lights small compact engine with decent horsepower. .
CONDITION: Engine is in excellent running condition and needs nothing. Compression checks out at 125+ with the engine also having excellent spark. Some average cosmetic wear here and there but nothing effecting use..(BELOW I HAVE ATTACHED 7 PICTURES OF THE ENGINE TO GIVE YOU A BETTER IDEA OF THE COSMETIC CONDITION).
