NOVERDY

A wonderful pair of french art deco lamps in nickel plated bronze or solid brass, around 1930, holdingbeautiful shades in moulded-pressed glass by Noverdy. There's a persistent rumour this is Jean Noverdy a glass maker from Dijon France. Which is incorrect. We have been in touch with the family of this glass factory and a Jean was never amongst them. Noverdy was the name of the company and it is short for "Nouvelles Verreries de Dyon" (New Glass factory of Dijon). This model shade is never signed. It is 15,3 cm high for a diameter of 11,6 cm. The total lamp is 37 cm high (14-1/2"). The bases are of high quality. Very sharp detailed casting. The pair is invery goodcondition.One of the two shades hastwo tiny chips to the rim. Both visible on my pictures. They wont show with the shade in place.The bases have been renickeled and the lamps are rewired with new twisted rayon covered cord, new plugs and switches.The lamps on offerare equiped with their old B22 bayonet cap sockets.
