ORIGINAL JET MOBILE Pedal Car made from WWII Practice BOMB CASING Wichita TX Mfg:
Here is a great Vintage Original 1940's 1950's Ride-On Car / Pedal Car . It is a very rare piece that according to my research may have been Made in Texas by Wichita Mfg. co. At any rate this is a very unique piece labeled " JET MOBILE " (probably a cheap imitation at the time made to compete with the popular Jet Car pedal car by Murray) . MEASURES 36" long. It is amazingly made out of a surplus US WWII Practice Bomb Casing (THIS IS A HOLLOW CASING THAT WAS NEVER ARMED) The irony of this politically incorrect piece from the 1950s is astonishing. A former bomb dropped out of airplanes turned into a child's toy!?! I am selling this piece as found. It was just discovered in Texas where it has been forgotten on a high shelf for decades. Luckily it has been stored indoors and has no rust issues. It is in amazing shape but the paint is looking a little weak and faded form decades of neglect. I beleive it is missing it's handle bar grips (not sure it came with grips? looks like it had one where the paint is brighter). Shows some paint loss, wear. I have not attempted to polish it or deep clean it in any way, should clean up very well. All I did was gave it a mild soap bath to remove decades of dust. Amazingly the original decals are mostly intact, just missing pieces at the bombs seam. Used shape, hardware original, original tires in pretty good shape , one tire marked "TAMCO" but all three are identical otherwise. The bomb casing itself has no markings. I am including an old sale # so you can check it's history and authenticity. Item # 270949023100 shows an identical piece that sold a year ago. This sale included original paperwork but it is badly out of focus. Item can still be viewed. Overall nice original just needing light cosmetic restoration or has that awesome original "shabby" look. Sold as-is. Please ask questions to avoid dissapointments. THIS PIECE IS VERY HUGE & HEAVY, 15 pounds without shipping material weight. I found another clue about this piece's origin. Supposedly this was manufactured from a 100 pound Bomb casing that was shortened for this toy? I am not sure if this info is accurate.
