Civil War Grape Shot Cannon Ball

This is a Wonderful Piece of Large ShotforDisplay!

This Large GrapeShot would have been loaded into a Canister or 3 tier Iron Shell with a Rod holding it together from the middle. When fired through the cannon it would have been the equivalent of a Enormous Shot Gun Shell Exploding in air!

This is a Fantastic Grape Shot Ball found on Private Property near Gettysburg, PA. The exact site that this ball was discovered on is unknown though a family oral history reports that this ball and four others were recovered by a relative over a span of two decades while working on a farm in the vicinity Gettysburg.

Apparently the grandfather of the woman that I purchased these from amassed quite a collection of Civil War items overhis years on the farm. The owner just wanted the junk out of the way of the plow, so the farmhand carried them home!If only they still had the multitude of other items that he had found! The family opted to keep one of the Cannon Balls and I purchased the remaining 4 and will be listing two of them tonight along with a half explodedCivil War Shell.

This ball is 100% Original and was found on private property with the land owners permission around the turn of the century. You can actually see the difference in the corrosion based on how long the balls sat out in the field. Two of the balls listed look like earlier pick-ups than the other two balls.

This Fantastic old Cannon Ball is a Wonderful and Grim Reminder of the Battle that took place inGettysburg, PA during theearly 1860's.

ATTENTION: We due our absolute best to validate any items before making "claims" regarding their origin. WhileI do not have any way to authenticate the story on these cannon balls, I can tell you that the home that we purchased them from was located only 20 minutes outside of Gettysburg and the elderly woman and sonhadidentical oral histories when questioned separately regarding the items as well as the history of their great / grandfather's time on the farm. In my opinion, these Pieces are Authentic as this family was almost not willing to part with them!

Great Looking Cannon Ball!

THIS PARTICULAR BALL

Looks to have been picked up Earlier than two of the other balls listed as there is a bit less even surface corrosion. This piece Displays Very Nicely as an early Gettysburg, PAFarm Pick-Up!

SIZE: 2.26" Diameter

100% Authentic & Original Ball

Wonderful Early Relic from a 145+ year old Battle!

Over all a Great Old Piece!
