OLD Cabinet Card Unidentified US Army Soldier 19th Company Coast Artillery Corps:
$43.00

OLDCabinet Card of an UnidentifiedUS Army Coast Artillery Corps Private likely during the Army of Occupation of Cuba following the Spanish American War.

The Soldier is wearing the M1899 Khaki uniform with red epaulettes which denotes him as being assigned to the Artillery. His campaign hat is \"19\" insignia on it which indicates that he was assigned to the 19th Company, Coast Artillery Corps. The Artillery regiment of the regular Army were broken up into independent batteries/companies in 1901. So this photo post dates that reorganization. The 19th Company, CAC was assigned to Havana, Cuba in 1901 and Santiago, Cuba in 1902. The 19th Company, CAC was reassigned to Fort Caswell, North Carolina after it returned from Cuba. I find it unlikely that they would still be wearing the Khaki tropical uniform at Fort Caswell, North Carolina other than for fatigue duty. If you agree then this photo had to be taken in 1901-1902 in Havana or Santiago, Cuba during the Army of Occupation period following the Spanish American War..

There is nobenchmark information. The reverse of the card is marked in pencil with possibly the last name of the solider but I have not been able to make the writing out.

Approx. 3.5\" x 7.2\"
