Up for offer is an original antique Ithaca Calendar Clock Company grandfather clock center brass finial in excellent original condition (no dents or cracked) ready to install on the top of your clock if you are missing one. I have collected Ithaca grandfather clocks and calendar clocks for many years. The center grandfather clock finial is the most difficult one to find because it is usually the one missing because it was the first one removed and lost if the clock did not fit in the room due to a low ceiling or it was the first one damaged while the clock was being moved. As many collectors know, the Ithaca Calendar Clock Co. used several different styles of spun solid brass finials on their grandfather clocks and a couple of different styles of turned wooden finials on their clocks. This fluted \"balloon style\" Ithaca grandfather clock center brass finial is one of the more difficult ones to find that were used by Ithaca on their grandfather clocks. I have included reference photos of this style brass finial from Tran Duy Ly\'s reference book LONGCASE CLOCKS AND STANDING HALL REGULATORS as shown on pages 297 and 298 to show you what it would look like on a clock with the two smaller side finials.This great old Ithaca brass grandfather clock finial has the old original tarnished patina still on it. It would polish up to a bright brass finish if the new owner prefers it shiny instead of with the old patina. This style of fluted solid brass center finial will fit either a spring driven Ithaca grandfather clock or a weight driven Ithaca grandfather clock.I lived in Ithaca, New York from 1970 until 2002 and collected both Ithaca Calendar clocks and Ithaca Grandfather clocks for over 32 years. Many of my grandfather clocks and one of my calendar clocks are shown in Tran Duy Ly’s reference books of clocks.
