Model 1860 Calvary sword made by Ames in 1863. SameInspectors Marks are on the blade and brass pommel. Makers marks, Inspectors marks and date are all easy to see. The original gripleather and wire are in good condition along with the leather washer. The brass hilt, sometime in it\'s distantpast, had a GOLD wash applied (for parades?)with about 65% remaining. There is a very small nick on the blade(picture) that a previous owner tried to file out leaving some small marks. The scabbard is on the shinny side having been probably cleaned or rehabbedsome time long ago, but on close inspection you can see some oxidation. There is a small dent on the scabbard(picture) on one side above the drag. I have tried to give you the low points of the sword and the high points as best I can as I am not an expert.A nice early wellmarked sword that displays well. USA SALES ONLY
