Wilhelm Fuchtner produced the first Erzgebirge nutcracker of spruce in 1870. In 1872 Wilhelm Füchtner, known as the “father of the nutcracker,” made the first commercial production of nutcrackers using the lathe to create many of the same design. The figures created by him were the prototypes of the world-renowned Seiffen nutcrackers.
Fuchtner family tradition all the nutcrackers, smoking men, angels and miners continue to be produced according to the model of the oldest Seiffen folk Art, thereby preserving their origin. The Family business stands in its 6th generation and will remain loyal to its tradition in the future. Today the family tradition is continued by Volker Fuchtner who was born in 1951. All pieces are hand crafted in Seiffen Germany.
This nutcracker soldier is about 16\" tall, is carrying his trusty rifle. The bottom is stamped. His hair and cracker part is covered in rabbit hair. There is a minute paint loss(pictured)on each shoulder but in no way detracts from the beauty of this piece. These can easily be touched up with gold paint. There are no breaks splits or chips. Beautiful piece of historic art in Excellent Condition.
