Excited to be bringing to sale this wonderful piece of ourNation’s military history – an authentic United States Spanish War Veteranmedal from the Spanish American War.Issued to members of the United States armed forces, who fought ineither the Spanish American or Philippine American Wars (1898-1902).

The medal is approximately 4-1/2” long and 2” wide, and featuresan American eagle with a flanked by a laurel wreath and the shield ofvictory. Attached to the eagle is a1-3/4” long American flag ribbon, with 13 stars and 13 stripes. Anchoring theflag is an amalgam of cavalry saber, infantry rifle and naval anchor together,representing the various branches of the United States military. And finally,at the bottom of the medal is the Spanish American War cross, with each armreading “Porto Rico,” “Cuba”, “Philippines”, and “USA.” It features the combined duration of bothwars: 1898-1902. The reverse side of thecross reads “United” and four directions on each arm of the cross.

There is a serial number on the reverse of the middle medalfeature, which I’m sure correlates to a soldier, however, after consulting withthe National Archives in Washington, DC, there are no records for this medal.

Excellent condition, with only some slight fraying of the ribbon. Wonderful patina!!
