ORIGINAL WWI US 36TH DIVISION CAMOUFLAGED HELMET

HAND PAINTED TEXAS ARROWHEAD INSIGNIA & CAMOUFLAGE

US MODEL 1917 - VERY BOLD CAMOUFLAGE COLORS

GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC!

We very recently obtained over 40 painted WWI helmets from the son of the original collector who started the collection just after he returned home from serving in Europe during WWII. All of the helmets are painted. Some with insignia, some with camouflage and some with both. There are examples from numerous WWI divisions as well as several very rare and hard to find pieces. Please be sure to monitor our sales for these helmets as well as many other outstanding WWI and WWII items. We have begun listing them today and will continue to do so as fast as possible. Thank You!

This sale is for an ORIGINAL World War One United States 36th \"Texas\" or \"Arrowhead\" Division Insignia Painted Model 1917 Helmet that maintains its original, well worn liner. This helmet shows age, wear and use but the shell remains in VERY GOOD CONDITION. There are NO Dings, Dents, Rust or Corrosion to this helmet and the camouflage remains beautiful with excellent, BOLD color. The 36th is a well known unit that undertook major operations during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. The Division suffered 2,584 Casualties, including 2,118 Wounded and 466 Killed in Action during its service in WWI (see below for a brief history of the 36th). This helmet is a very unique and historic piece from a soldier in a hard fighting unit. In all of our years of buying and selling military antiques, this is one of only a very few camouflaged and insignia painted 36th Division helmets that we have ever offered for sale. It is a wonderful piece for 36th Division and WWI Helmet Collectors alike!

This helmet not only bears a 36th Texas Division Arrowhead Insignia to the front, but is also CAMOUFLAGED. The camo shows only light wear and age and remains VERY visible with EXCELLENT Color. The camo consists of irregular patterns, segments and shapes separated by lines of light blue and black. There are also CHEVRONS Painted to the helmet, sets of which appear to signify that this soldier served TWO Six Month Tours in France. The Camouflage Colors Consist Of: Dark Blue, Light Blue, Light Beige, Light Orange, Black, Dark Green and Dark Brown. All colors are bold and show very minimal fading. There is some typical wear and age to the paint and finish with minor scuffs and scrapes, but nothing that detracts from the helmet\'s appearance when displayed. It is a very impressive camouflage scheme that displays very well.

The ORIGINAL 36th Division Arrowhead Insignia to the Front shows age and wear with light to moderate fading. It maintains approximately 80% of its original paint to the arrowhead and approximately 90% of its original paint to the \"T.\" The arrowhead appears to have been painted with either light blue or perhaps silver paint. The Large \"T\" to the center of the arrowhead was painted with White Paint but has aged to an \"eggshell\" color. Even with the minor fading and age, the insignia remains bold and easy to see. It is very distinctive and stands out from the camouflage pattern in an attractive manner that is appealing to the eye.

The LINER is Well Worn with signs of age, wear, use and neglect but it remains in the helmet. It has not separated and remains relatively solid. There is no readily apparent damage to the oil cloth portion and the rear of the oil cloth maintains its Large manufacturer\'s stamp that reads \"R.H. LONG 7-18.\" The oil cloth is not dry or split and can easily be folded down to reveal the Long maker\'s stamp and date. The liner also maintains its felt crown pad in good condition and its cotton adjusting string and webbing, also in good condition with no readily apparent damage. A portion of the instruction tag remains to the crown as does a portion of the interior chinstrap leather. The Size of 7 1/8 remains clearly visible to the interior portion of the chinstrap and the leather is not separate or broken. This helmet has NO Chinstrap. The underside of the helmet shell maintains its original markings, which are clearly visible and can be seen in the photos here. The leather rim of the liner shows considerable age and wear as well as some minor damage. The liner is not fragile or brittle, but must be handled with care to prevent further damage and prevent it from separating from the helmet.

EVERY aspect of this helmet is GUARANTEED to be 100% Original and Authentic to the World War I period. This helmet is by no means perfect, but it displays VERY well and is quite an impressive example of a World War One Insignia Painted and Camouflaged Helmet. It could certainly appeal to a varying array of collectors of different levels due to the unique qualities of the helmet. It is getting very hard to find insignia painted and camouflage helmets that are completely original and unaltered. This is the First 36th Division Insignia Painted Camouflage Helmet that we have seen in a LONG Time! These are extremely hard to find. This is a very honest and very nice example that we think you will enjoy adding to your collection.PLEASE examine all photos closely and ask any questions that you may have. Thank you for looking and good luck offerding!!!

The final composition of the 36th Division consisted of the 71st and 72nd Infantry Brigades, the 141st and 142nd Infantry Regiments belonging to the 71st. Following this victory, which included the capture of several hundred German men and officers, as well as artillery, the unit launched an assault near an area known as \"Forest Farm.\" During World War I, the division suffered 2,584 casualties, 466 killed in action and 2,118 wounded in action.
