Collected in Lancaster County, PA

c1880, Tumbler Pattern, 3\" x 1 3/4\" pieces

Filled with the most wonderful, never used, crisp and vibrant prints of the era.

We have searched and searched and cannot find a duplicate fabric. There are 1000s of different prints here, an amazing assortment to study and love. Hands down, our favorite is the conversation print with horses.

Charm quilts became popular in the late 19th century. Girls would cut two pieces of fabric, save one and trade the other. It would have taken years to find this many different prints. Charm quilts are also known as beggars quilts, as you can imagine how many requests were made from friends and family, to trade pieces. Another tidbit about these quilts...there may be just one fabric that is used twice. This would have been on purpose, and would become a game with others to find it.

It is hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch.

It is hand bound.

Backing is grey calico.

Measures 88 1/2\" x 86\"

Never used, never washed.

Light age spots/tanning. One teeny surface tear in one piece. Backing has fold lines.(See photos.)

Very rare to find, especially in this condition. One to add to a seasoned collection, or be the special quilt to pass down thru generations.
