The 500L was the first Jigmaster designed and manufactured by Penn, and it\'salso the only Jigmaster still manufactured today. While in 1958 the Jigmaster(then model number 500) came with two light-weight plastic spools by default,metal spools were available as extras. Modern reel comes with an aluminum spool(designated by the \"L\" in 500L)
500S: This reel has the take apart thumbstud on the side for easy removal ofthe spool or assess to the gears for servicing.
501: The 501 was identical to the 500 to this model, but had a narrowspool/stand/posts, and is no longer manufactured.
The 505HS was the first Penn conventional reel ever to sport a 5:1 ratio.
The 506HS is the same as but, had a narrow spool/stand/posts.
